Description

Developed from NASA technology, HY-TECH ceramic insulating paint additive is a fine, white powder blend of high strength ceramic "microspheres". Each single ceramic microsphere is so small that it looks to the naked eye as if it is a single grain of flour, (slightly thicker than a human hair). When mixed into paint the painted surface dries to a tightly packed layer of the hard, hollow "microspheres", (Hy-Tech's exclusive CVM, ceramic vacuum matrix technology.) The tightly packed film reflects and dissipates heat by minimizing the path for the transfer of heat. The ceramics are able to reflect, refract and block heat radiation (loss or gain) and dissipate heat rapidly preventing heat transfer through the coating with as much as 90% of solar infrared rays and 85% of ultra violet-rays being radiated back into the atmosphere. Hy-Tech insulating additive is completely inert and can be mixed into ANY paint, coating or composite including interior house paint, exterior house paint, roof paint, solvent base coating, epoxy, urethane, high temperature paint, elastomerics, mastics etc. The addition of the ceramics to any material provides heat reflection, insulation, improved fire resistance, and lower heating / cooling costs. We recommend that surfaces have at LEAST two coats of paint containing ceramics to get results. This is based on the small size of the ceramics and the need to have then distributed evenly on a surface. More coats will produce better results. Package size represents the amount of paint that package will treat. For example the "1 gallon package" will treat 1 gallon of paint. The "5 gallon package" will treat 5 gallons of paint, etc.

Features

Can be mixed into any kind of paint or coating. Does not change the properties of the paint it is added to.

Reduces heat and cooling loss by providing insulation benefits.

Lowers heating and cooling bills !

One quart by volume of ceramics is added to one gallon of paint or coating.

Product is sold in packages according to how much paint you will be using. A 1 gallon package will treat 1 gallon of paint, 12 gallon package will treat 12 gallons of paint, etc

Used it on the inside of my Horse trailer worksHoping for relief from the heat that is directly on our front door in the summer afternoons. Will update next summer to let you all know if it helps. It leave a cool texture as a finish, somewhat like suede leather. Really cool.Tried one gallon of this company's RC233 paint (one thick coat) on top of cheap unpainted lean to tin roof on side of my shed where I work. Before application could not touch bottom side of tin on a 100 degree day, was measuring 125 F to 135 F depending on where Temp gun was pointed. Next day,..after RC233 application temps dropped to 105 F and could hold my hand on underside indefinitely. Next, I mixed their powder as instructed into 5 gallons of 100% silicone roof coating (white) and applied one thick coat to both top and bottom sides of my 20' x 30' metal carport that I'm enclosing to convert to a cabin. Metal roof was factory painted white and before application was 120 F to 125 F,..after application temp dropped to 105 F on a 103 F day. A month later on 105 F day was adding wood to square metal rafter tubing inside carport and touched my bald head to roof metal many times without burning. Am hoping this application will will stop condensation from forming on underside of roof in winter temps of 35 F to 40 F.UPDATE 1/7/2021: After a heavy rain, have had two days so far where dew point was in the low 40 and high 30 degree range. ALL uncoated tin roof structures were literally raining condensation from underneath, BUT the metal carport roof that I coated on both top and bottom with their insulating ceramic paint additive powder was amazingly BONE DRY undernneath. Not one drop of water condensation was on ground nor could any be felt by hand when touching bottom of roof tin. As a side note,..dont know if this had anything to do with the successful end result but the silicone on top side was white and bottom side was dark brown. I noticed last summer (after the top side was coated white) that applying the brown to the bottom side increased temp readings 10 to 12 degrees above the previously uncoated bottom side temp. Probably not color related but rather metal roof being sandwiched with the insulating properties of the additive in silicone coating. Now I can finish my 'carbin' project without the worry of condensation dripping on to insulation and cedar boards!I live in South Florida and have a Florida room with a flat roof. Over the years, we have attempted to make this room more efficient thermally and acoustically. We had a thick 3M heat reflective security film added to the windows, which wrap around the whole room. That helped a lot. We then added a new wall mounted AC unit and that helped cool the room more efficiently. A few years ago, we had the roof painted with Black Jack® ETERNA-KOTE® 100% Silicone Roof Coating. Again, that helped. But this room is still warmer than the main part of the house, so when we decided to paint the flat roof again with the Black Jack® ETERNA-KOTE, I had the 2 gallon size Hy-Tech ThermaCels paint additive and decided to add it to the paint even though it was 5 gallons of paint. The Hy-Tech additive still helped lower the heat coming through the flat roof, but what amazed me is the fact that we had a few major downpours and we can barely hear the rain through the roof. I am so impressed that I am tempted to get another 5 gallons of the Black Jack® ETERNA-KOTE and add the proper amount of Hy-Tech additive to it. We will be getting our home painted when rainy season is over and I will be adding Hy-Tech's product to all of my exterior paint. In fact, we decided to go ahead and paint the exterior of the Florida room, so I will be adding the Hy-Tech to that and after, I will add another review. Really impressed with Hy-Tech's product! This product works. I live in Hawaii and my house has a metal roof and a vaulted ceiling with no space in between. We'd lock up the house when we went to work and come home to a toasty hot-box. The heat used to radiate directly into our main room and only cooled off when we opened all the windows and sliders. I saw an immediate 15 degree drop in the temperature of our house once the metal roof was painted with direct to metal paint with the Thermacel paint additive. I can't recommend this product enough!I used a mask when mixing the additive. Super simple. The paint took about 10 hours to dry and hardened to a ceramic, velvety feel. I used two coats in the hallway and had enough leftover paint (it was a gallon) to paint a single coat window bedroom wall. The temperature registered a low 71 degrees Fahrenheit and a high of 75 degrees Fahrenheit late afternoon. It’s unbelievable!!! Like using AC but without the hassle!! Soooo energy efficient. Comforting cool. I also read that this additive is warming in Winter. So, homeostasis.I’m going to definitely add a second coat to that bedroom window and I think that along with my hallway (and only a few of the hallway halls received the two coats of paint) should do it. A gallon of paint and a gallon of additive!!!???This stuff is great. I was just giving it a blind “go for it” when trying to find something to help insulate and sound deaden the metal in a bus we converted. It helped a ton! Knocking on the metal before and after is totally different. The “knock” is very muffled now.I sanded in between coats…don’t do that. Lol. The “balls/spheres” are supposed to remain spheres in order to insulate properly. I highly recommend! ??
